Marcia Selva
Biographical Info:
Marcia Selva has been involved with travel since 1967 after taking her first trip to Hong Kong. Falling in love with the Asian culture and traveling through many Asian countries, Marcia added Vietnam to her list of favorites in 1992. Since that time she has devoted her energies to developing a tour program that focuses on Southeast Asia; Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. When Vietnam was just beginning to develop its tourism infrastructure, Marcia created tours that back then were considered "adventure tours" simply because they went to Vietnam. Today, they are considered mainstream programs. From the beginning, Marcia's dream was to offer socially responsible eco-tourism programs with a humanitarian component. Early in 1998, Marcia sensed that finally the time was right to research the possibility of offering such trips and in July of 1998, she led a focus group of intrepid travelers to Vietnam and the "Off the Beaten Track" tour was born. Starting in April of 1999, hiking "minority inn to minority inn" biking and kayaking tours in Halong Bay and the Mekong Delta will be offered to the public. Marcia is a CTC (Certified Travel Counselor) and the founder and owner of Global Spectrum Travel & Tours, a company specializing in travel to Southeast Asia.
